Throwing Up In Public

Throwing Up In Public

Now, this topic is rather grotesque but it is a big-time reality and it can happen to anyone.

Let’s admit it, we’re all human: we’ve all reached a moment where we have to throw up. Not enough hydration, full stomach, too much to drink, too much movement, too much of anything really – the reasons as to why are countless.

There are rare times when we feel a knot in our stomach like something isn’t sitting right in there. It’s best to not ignore it: whatever is in there is thinking about getting out and both exits are still no fun, especially when you’re at a music festival. The last thing you want is to be near that cute crush you have been admiring and then suddenly feel ill. But, only the universe knows maybe that scenario could swing the other way and that cute crush is suddenly your hero.

There are 3 ways to approach this scenario: one less brutal than the other (in order)

  1. Drink some water and wait a few minutes – signs of dehydration are unique and they can easily be missed. If you still feel the same, the absolute best thing to do is to go to the restroom and make an attempt for any type of release. If you have no luck, the next decision is totally up to you. Personally, if I feel something inside my stomach that is causing all types of havoc: I am going to get it out! One way or another that feeling of peril will end and 100% of the time, it works. Maybe it wasn’t anything and just a flush of anxiety and somehow the breathwork during this moment helped? Regardless, it’s out.
  2. Now for the second approach; if you have bubbles in your stomach and you know what is coming and if you can’t reach a bathroom because there is no time. By all means, find a trash can! It’s that simple.
  3. If you are at that no turning back point, no time to run to the bathroom or trash can and the puke is basically going up your esophagus. Sit down, knees up, and drop your head – it’s the most inconspicuous manner. I’ve always found dropping a pile of napkins over a spillage or putting down any type of object that can heed a warning to another passing individual is courteous. NOTE: You will either get very dirty or have a few splats that you can wipe off.

What you do and how you do it, is totally up to you. You are human, you are strong and you got this – till the next read eye surfers!

Dropping A Valuable

What to do if you drop a valuable

This topic hits home. I’ve been a victim of it from every angle, from losing and finding items. That mini heart attack is not a joke. Some things to remember and this is a quick realistic read to some it’s common sense and to others a nice reminder.

If you suddenly drop a valuable, let’s hope you remember you did – do everything you can to retrieve it.

Search the surrounding area and ask nearby spectators.

You can retrace your steps in hopes of recalling when you last had it and attempting to locate it. If there is still hope in humanity, that item will be taken to the lost and found. Be sure to check with the team before you leave.

Expect a sudden wave of guilt, anger, and regret. The quicker you let these emotions run through the quicker you can adjust yourself to attempt to make the best of the rest of your experience. Remember materials can be replaced but not the event you’ve paid to attend. The sooner you make that conscious decision the sooner you will enjoy the rest of the event. You are human, you are strong and you got this – till the next read eye surfers!

What To Do If You’re Lost

All fun and excitement come to an end the moment we turn around and come to discover we are completely alone or the group got split. Suddenly, you lose track of time and any plans that were considered are no longer an option.

We all have a friend who is a natural-born leader, the planner, the organizer, the person who not only calls out ideas but executes them quite well. Let’s face it, the world would not go around if we didn’t have these individuals, and no advancement would ever be made. If you are one of these people, this little piece of gold is for you, although I’m pretty sure you already do this because you’re amazing.

Even if you don’t have that organized friend in your squad, that’s perfectly okay too – and getting lost probably seems normal for you and an all-time favorite thing. You probably already create some great memories, by starting a story with I lost everyone within the first 30 minutes of entering the event, really sounds like a great campfire story when you become an elder. Regardless, take these tips in hope of some aid.

CALL INSTEAD OF TEXT

The idea of sending a text seems like an easy thing to do – you write, send and wait – embellishing your sights with the surroundings. Making a phone call will actually connect faster than submitting a text in a world of heavy network traffic. Everyone is attempting either a call or text while sharing the nearest network tower and at times there aren’t that many towers in the area [FACT]. Once you make a connection, ask for the stage they’re currently in and for the nearest totem that’s next to them. Much appreciation for those that take on the role of the totem keeper.

PICK A MEETING SPOT

Whether it’s the 7-Up stage, the biggest installation at the event, a ride, or a giant water fountain – the most obvious the better, plus, let’s face it, it’s kind of neat to receive a text message that says, “at the giant caterpillar!” Create a time during the day or night when everyone will meet up there, usually a few hours into the event, when people are hungry, need a little break, or before a big artist performs.

REMEMBER WHERE YOU PARKED OR GOT DROPPED OFF

– If you get lost towards the end of the night, always remember where your ride is parked and go wait there. Remember to take a picture of the area as soon as you get there to help remember. They wouldn’t leave you, right? If so, remember where you are staying the night. Some nights can be a real test of will, I have one word, prepare.

-If you take a shuttle, always verify where the pick-up spot will be and know the schedule

LOCATE BETTER RECEPTION

-Go to an area that has better reception and contact your squad. That means go early and learn where the outer edges are, if it’s later into the night when network towers are shared, the outer edges of the event will be your best bet. If your phone died or if you lost your phone, ask a fellow attendee in a calm area to let you borrow theirs.

REMEMBER TALKED ABOUT SET TIMES AND/OR MUSIC ARTISTS

Try to recall past conversations you had with your friends and go to that stage, and walk around it –  it’s a hit or miss but why not enjoy that set anyways?

ACCEPT AND OWN THE MOMENT

-Make new friends by embracing your surroundings and connecting with new people, letting them know you lost your squad and vibe. If you feel comfortable whilst engaging with people, more than likely you will be okay. Always trust your gut.

GOT A WALKIE-TALKIE?

Believe it or not, that device we used when we were kids, works at events. If you ever have an issue with overlapping channels, have your squad remember to look at the time and dial that same channel. If you don’t want to carry another device, luckily we have apps for that now 😉

Entering this experience is up to you like a test, the better you prepare the more effective the outcome. The whole we came together, we must stay together rule can be a solid rule to follow but accidents happen all the time. It’s really up to you how you want to look at the situation and I hope you keep this piece in mind so the next time you get lost or split at any event, you have a general idea of what to do. You are human, you are strong and you got this – till the next read eye surfers!

Not Feeling Well Inside A Stage

Not Feeling Well Inside A Stage

You decided to do the experience all your friends keep talking about, whether it’s your first event or not. You’ve heard all the stories and you’ve made up your mind; the decision is final. Now you might be thinking, why wouldn’t I feel well? What can happen to me? Stages are meant to draw in crowds that can be large enough to cause potential harm. Stages have better sound the closer you get, however, keep in mind that the closer you get to the performer, the tighter everything gets, including oxygen. If you don’t feel well inside a stage, here are a few tips to remember:

-Breathwork (3 in 3 out rule: inhale for 3 seconds, exhale for 3 seconds)

-Pull away

-Walk to the back

-Sit down

Drink water

-Eat or drink something sweet

-Eat light, if you haven’t had a meal

-Stay visible

-Go to the nearest first aid center

Throw up if you had something you shouldn’t have

Walking away suddenly to better your experience is understandable, try to keep someone with you in case you lose your squad. Access the situation, be aware of yourself, and stay visible. Don’t feel like you need to hide because you are scared. At that given moment, the biggest priority is yourself, and asking for help is okay. We are not perfect and the decisions we make today are part of our journey. You are human, you are strong and you got this – till the next read eye surfers!

Behind the Mission

Behind the Mission

Behind the Mission

Welcome readers to a new platform, One N Only, starts a new chapter to bring you compelling and insightful information to serve as a guide as you embark on your expeditions. As the first official ONO blog, it is right to introduce the founding father, CEO Karen Krochik – name pronounced (kəˈren). After a formal sit-down with Karen Krochik, it is in my best interest to share his purpose.

WHERE IT STARTED

Karen is from Ukraine and migrated to San Francisco, California when he was six months old. His family came across a local newspaper and enrolled him to play Soccer, it was the group he met that day that would become his lifelong friends to this day. Hearing how Karen is still friends with that same group, entails Karen having true knowledge about friendship. Have you ever heard of Latin Ballroom Competitions? It’s a competition of a series of intricate Latin dance styles. When Karen reached his teenage years, he traveled together with his childhood friends to compete frequently. Hence, a seed began to grow, and little did he know his destiny was developing.

WHEN IT BEGAN

In 2012, the ONO first bus to EDC Las Vegas had sixty people. Thirty passengers were friends, the other half were strangers, and all rode from the Bay Area to their hotel in Nevada. The planning took about ten months; Karen had to immerse himself in the experience to execute it successfully. It was from this trip that strangers became friends, few are dating and a few have gotten married. In Karen’s words, “it all happened organically. I followed my heart. I want to bring people together – maximize the experience for anyone and grant access to a platform to the community when people are ready.”

WHAT INSPIRED ONO

Karen explained that the lifestyle in Ukraine is very different from America. An individual must marry soon at a very young age as two salaries are much greater than one. A couple must have children quickly to maintain balance in their home life. Yet, in America, an individual can support themselves alone. We have food and clothes delivered. We can work from home. The mentality overall is different.

Karen is always the go-to planner for birthdays, get-togethers, and traveling; an organizer by second nature. His background provided him with the knowledge that answers a problem we face today. He created a solution; One N Only alleviates all the stress that comes with planning but does it in a family-oriented manner that brings people together either for a lifelong friendship and/or even to meet a significant other.

FUTURE GOALS

Everything in Karen’s life has shaped him to enable the ultimate experience. New inspirations have risen in the last decade like adding flight packages, ONO Taxi, International trips, additional VIP service, whole bus rental for groups, and more social gatherings outside of events (ex. Mexico Resort Takeover) and festivals. ONE N ONLY is wondrous and constantly keeps its doors open for opportunity. Karen’s 35th birthday is coming in July and he currently resides by the Pacific with his fiance.

We want to hear from you! Comment below on past experiences, What are some of the things you would like to experience?
